What the game sends, and what it never asks for

MOGUL is played offline. There is no account, no sign-in and no email address — we have no way to know who you are, and nothing on this page changes that. Three things leave your machine, all of them game data, and you can see exactly what each one is below.

Hiscore submissions — automatic

Once your firm is trading and worth something, the game sends your firm’s name, your net worth, and the list of decisions you made — which is what lets a score be replayed and checked rather than believed. It does this a few times a campaign, not constantly. It is part of playing: there is no separate sign-up and nothing to enable.

Bug reports — only when you press Send

What you typed, plus the same seed and list of decisions, so the exact run can be replayed. It also carries which build you are on and the app's user-agent string — the line every web request carries, which names your operating system and the version of the engine the game runs on — and that line is kept with the report, so a bug can be matched to the system it happened on. Nothing is sent unless you press the button.

Reading the board

Opening the hiscores screen, or this site’s hiscores page, fetches the list. Like any web request it arrives with your IP address and the user-agent string; the address is used to stop one machine flooding the service, and neither is stored beside a score.

What is never collected

No name, no email, no account, no advertising identifier, no location, no contacts, no analytics or telemetry SDK of any kind, and nothing about your computer beyond the build of the game it is running and, on a bug report you send, the user-agent string described above.

The detail

Names, keys and saves

The name on the board is your firm’s

Not yours. It is the firm name you chose after creating your character, and it is the only thing about a run that is shown publicly.

The anonymous key

On first run the game makes up a random string and keeps it on your machine. It is sent with submissions and bug reports so one caller cannot flood the service. It is not tied to a name, a score or a person, and it is never asked for anywhere.

Saves stay on your machine

Your campaigns, settings and progress live on your own computer. They are never uploaded, and there is no cloud save.
